Julie A. Carruthers joined the Office of the Deputy Director for Science Programs as Science and Technology Advisor in September 2007. Her responsibilities include advising the Deputy Director on science program management and policy issues, and providing coordination and analysis of budget, scientific, technical, programmatic, and operational issues regarding the SC Program Offices and national laboratories. She also coordinates Office of Science participation in interagency committees on science and technology. Julie currently serves as a primary liaison to the Office of Biological and Environmental Research, the Office of Nuclear Physics, and the Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists. Her duty station is Washington, DC. She previously served as an advisor to the Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Science and the DOE Under Secretary for Science as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (2005-2007); as an American Chemical Society Congressional Fellow for a U.S. Senator (2004-2005); and as a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Massachusetts, Boston (2001-2004). Julie received her Ph.D. in Chemistry with an emphasis in biophysics from Yale University in 2001, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
