The ASCR Discovery Web Site contains…

  • Monthly cover story that will feature projects and researchers that are noteworthy for their groundbreaking work, their contributions to the field or the recognition they have received.
  • A section detailing ongoing projects, mostly at the national laboratories.  The emphasis will be on research that enables software for simulation, performance analysis, high-performance computing and other high-level projects
  • A section highlighting the wide reach of and broad constituency for ASCR-supported research by concentrating on projects based at colleges and universities.
  • A section detailing the capabilities of DOE’s most powerful computers and fastest networks, emphasizing large-scale projects and capability.  This section also will report on the latest machines and efforts, including petascale computing and high-speed networks with INCITE being a major source of subjects.
  • A section highlighting ASCR-supported projects that cross-institutional, disciplinary and geographic boundaries, demonstrating the collaborative nature of office-sponsored research.  SciDAC will be a major source of material, but any project involving research teams from a variety of institutions and disciplines will be featured.
  • A section that highlights the "living past" of research sponsored by ASCR and its predecessors.  This will emphasize the long-range nature of ASCR-supported research and the value of providing continuous support to important work.
  • A section that focuses on new and developing researchers.  The short pieces will draw subjects from the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, Early Career Principal Investigator program and new national laboratory hires.
  • A section featuring important honors, major career moves and other news affecting ASCR-supported researchers.
