Proposal Submissions Division of Materials Sciences and Engineering |
||
|
|
Fundamental science is the primary
criterion in the work that our Division supports. Studies that are directed
primarily towards engineering, demonstration, or development goals, such as
producing specific devices or identifying optimal processing for a
particular application, are less likely to compete successfully. However,
our portfolio does include scientific instrument development that enables
fundamental materials research. While the Division does not have separate
early career awards, we encourage early-career PIs to contact the
cognizant Program Managers in the Division to explore funding
opportunities through submission of 2-3 page preproposals/whitepapers. New applications to our core programs are made through Notice DE-PS02-09ER09-01 while renewal and supplement applications are made through Notice DE-PS02-09ER09-02. Those notices are the definitive word on submission. In addition, there are calls for special purposes. Those calls often specify different procedures and requirements so the notice should be read very carefully. |

For Grant Applications from Universities/Research Institutions: General: See http://www.sc.doe.gov/bes/grants.html Contacts: For further inquiries, please contact the program manager whose areas of expertise and/or responsibility most closely match the topic area, as listed at Staff Contacts. For National Laboratory Programs: Research proposals
from the DOE laboratories are submitted through the normal laboratory
process as field task proposals. Information can be obtained from the
appropriate contact points at the DOE laboratories that are currently
supported by the program, or from the program office. A list of all Office
of Science solicitations open to the Laboratories can be found at: http://www.sc.doe.gov/grants/
