OPPORTUNITY FOR SUPPORT OF DUSEL R&D PROPOSALS IN FY2008
The National Science Foundation Division of Physics and the DOE Offices of Nuclear Physics and High Energy Physics are receiving research proposals for DUSEL-related activities. These activities should be targeted at detector-related R&D for future underground, DUSEL-related physics experiments and associated applications. The two agencies plan to support in FY2008 a limited number of proposals for R&D on particle and nuclear physics experiments, subject to available funds.
For consideration by both agencies, these proposals should be sent to both NSF and DOE. All proposals should start their title with the phrase "DUSEL R&D" and must be received by December 3, 2007 to ensure consideration for funding.
Proposals to the NSF should be submitted through Fastlane under the Particle and Nuclear Astrophysics program, which can be found on the NSF page www.nsf.gov. This program is in the Physics Division of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences - MPS- Directorate. The Grant Proposal Guidelines can also be accessed here, which provide the rules/guidelines for proposal submission.
Proposals to DOE should be submitted following the general DOE guidelines for new or supplemental grants at www.grants.gov. Applications from Universities should be submitted through www.grants.gov and those from Laboratories should be submitted as a supplemental field work proposal.
These proposals will be jointly reviewed and selected by NSF's Division of Physics and DOE's Office of High Energy Physics and Office of Nuclear Physics. The best proposals that will do the most to advance this effort will be selected without consideration of whether the PI is traditionally supported by NSF or DOE.
Questions about the DUSEL R&D program should be directed to
