The President's FY 2002 Budget Request was transmitted to Congress on April 9, 2001, and covers the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2001.  The FY 2002 Budget Request for BES (below) contains breakouts of the FY 2000, FY 2001 (estimate) and FY 2002 (request) Basic Energy Sciences (BES) budgets.  The document describes in some detail the mission and goals of the BES program, FY 2000 accomplishments, the research activities and facilities operations that the BES program supports, performance measures, and the proposed future directions of the BES program.

The total BES FY 2002 Congressional budget request is for $1,004,705 thousand.  The complete budget request can be downloaded to the right.  The FY 2001, FY 2000, FY 1999, and FY 1998 BES budget requests are also available.
