Dr. Fiechtner is Manager for the Condensed Phase and
Interfacial Molecular Science portion of the Chemical
Physics Research Program.. From
September, 2004 through April, 2006, he worked with
William Millman and John Miller as a Detailee with
the Separations and Analysis Program. Prior to
joining the DOE, he was a Principal Member of the
Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories with
the Microfluidics research group (
Livermore
,
CA
). Dr. Fiechtner joined Sandia in 2000 from the
Combustion Branch at the Air Force Research
Laboratories and Innovative Scientific Solutions,
Inc., in
Dayton
,
Ohio
. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at
Sandia National Laboratories, a visiting instructor
at the University of Colorado (Boulder, Colorado ),
and a visiting researcher at the Colorado School of
Mines (Golden, Colorado ). Dr. Fiechtner received
his M. S. in 1989 and his Ph.D. in 1992 from
Purdue
University
(
West Lafayette
,
Indiana
), where his thesis research concerned the use of
short-pulse laser spectroscopy for combustion
diagnostics. He received his B. S. in 1986 from the
University
of
Nebraska
(
Lincoln
,
Nebraska
). He is the author of approximately 30
peer-reviewed articles, and holds membership in the
American Chemical Society, the Optical Society of
America, the American Association for the
Advancement of Science, the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers, and is an associate fellow of
the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics.
