Paul Maupin earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his Ph.D. from William Marsh Rice University in Houston. His research interests include mechanistic and synthetic aspects of organic chemistry, catalysis, polymer science, and membrane separation technologies. He was a staff member in the Chemistry Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1976-1978 and spent the majority of his career prior to joining the Office of Science as a polymer chemist and later a group leader with a subsidiary of Rohm and Hass. He is currently the Program Manager for the Chemical Energy and Chemical Engineering Program.
