Dr. Aravinda (Arvind) Kini joined the Materials Sciences and Engineering
Division of DOE's Office of Basic Energy Sciences in February 2002 as the
Program Manager for Materials Chemistry and Biomolecular Materials. Prior to
joining DOE, he worked as a Staff Scientist in the Chemistry and Materials
Science Divisions at Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Illinois during
1986-2002. He earned his B. Sc. degree in Physics and Chemistry in 1969 from
the University of Mysore, India, M. Sc. degree in Chemistry in 1971 from the
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (Chennai), India, and Ph.D. degree in
Chemistry in 1979 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He was a
Post-doctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University during 1980-1984, and
worked as a Research Scientist in the Electronics and Optics Group at LTV
Aerospace and Defense Company in Dallas, Texas from 1984 to 1986. Arvind has
conducted research in broad scientific areas such as organic photochemistry,
bioorganic chemistry, organic solid state chemistry, superconductivity and
materials science. He has published over 140 papers in peer-reviewed
journals, several review articles, a book-chapter and a book on organic
superconductors. He received the U. S. Department of Energy
award-Outstanding Scientific Accomplishment in Materials Chemistry-in 1990.
He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Advanced
Functional Materials. [Research Programs] [Proposal Submissions] [Publications] [Staff Contacts] [DMSE Home] [BES] [Office of Science] [DOE] Last Modified 07/01/2007
