Flow Graphic
Flow separation of human chromosomes for the National Laboratory Gene Library Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore Laboratory has provided the raw materials for clone libraries for each of the human chromosomes. This is the starting material for mapping and sequencing.

Figure 6 Graphic A detailed map of the short arm of human chromosome 16 indicating how the map was put together and where the genes are located is an example of the detailed maps produced by Los Alamos National Laboratory Human Genome Center. A similar map of the long arm of human chromosome 16 and the short arm of human chromosome 5 has also been developed.

Strategy Graphic Mapping Strategy for high resolution maps of human chromosomes used by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Human Genome Center. This strategy is different from the strategy used by Los Alamos National Laboratory but produces the same kind of high resolution continuous map of a human chromosome, in this case, chromosome 19.
